Best Things to Do in Las Vegas During Winter Months

Best Things to Do in Las Vegas During Winter Months

While many parts of the country are dealing with snow, slush, and blustery winds, the city of Las Vegas offers mild winter months and plenty of fun activities to enjoy. Since the summers here can be brutally hot, now is the perfect time to check out some of the area’s best outdoor activities. And on the days when it’s a bit too chilly to be outdoors, you can head inside and enjoy a few of Vegas’s hottest indoor attractions.

Here’s a look at some of our favorite things to do in Las Vegas during the winter months.

Go Ice Skating at the Cosmopolitan

Every winter, the Cosmopolitan transforms its rooftop pool into a 4,200-square-foot ice skating rink. This is the perfect spot for a romantic date, family outing, or girls’ night out. Not only will you be able to enjoy some wholesome fun, but you’ll also get to take in the stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip while you practice your skating skills.

Check Out the Stratosphere

During the summer months, the Stratosphere Observation Deck tends to be packed with people, but when it gets a bit cooler, you’ll be able to enjoy the view with a bit of breathing room. The Stratosphere has both an indoor and outdoor observation deck, so if it’s super cold, you can just choose to stay inside. You can also order dinner and drinks, making this a fun experience in any type of weather.

Go for a Ride on The High Roller

The High Roller is the world’s tallest observation wheel. It takes you 550 feet above the center of the Las Vegas Strip and offers 360-degree panoramic views. The wheel features 28 spacious enclosed pods, so you can enjoy your 30-minute ride in comfort even if it’s chilly outdoors.

Visit Downtown’s Container Park

Built from more than 40 repurposed shipping containers, Container Park is an open-air shopping, dining, and entertainment destination. During the Las Vegas winter months, you’ll love exploring the area, taking in one of the many free concerts and shows, or relaxing while your kids check out the interactive playground featuring a 40-foot slide area called The Treehouse. Best of all, this attraction is free to enjoy!

Explore Some of the Area’s Best Museums

Vegas may be known as “Sin City,” but there are also tons of interesting museums that you can explore. Options range from the downtown Mob Museum which features exciting stories of organized crime in America to the Neon Museum where you’ll learn about the history of Las Vegas signage and culture. You may also want to check out Bodies at the Luxor – an intriguing exhibit that provides you with a detailed look at the human body.

Plan an Outdoor Winter Road Trip

While there’s plenty to do right here in Vegas, now is also a great time to explore some of the amazing nearby attractions that are just a short drive away. Some of the best day trips from Vegas include a visit to Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, or the Valley of Fire State Park. Depending on the location you choose, you may be able to see breathtaking rock formations, bighorn sheep, and other unforgettable sights.

Don’t let the cooler weather keep you from enjoying your time in Las Vegas. Whether you decide to stay in town or head out for an exciting adventure, checking out these area attractions will help you make the most of the Las Vegas winter.
